Hello everyone, hope everyone and everything is going great! As far as for Mileena and our family were doing pretty good. She turned 2 August 8th, sorry we have been big strangers but life has been a little busy for me now that i started working. Daddy stays home with her everyday, their bond has gotten so strong...i adore it. He takes her to her appointments as well as stays while her therapists come over. Mileena has accomplished walking along furniture as well as walking with a toy walker...brought us to tears to see such great progress. She is learning new things everyday and talks a lot more, wish i can post videos but i have them all on my phone which wont transfer to my computer for some reason...but i do have pictures.

For some reason for the past couple of years Mileena keeps coming up with bronchitis, and we hardly ever take her out when its cold out. She had it bad this time couldn't breath but shes better now. She goes for her 24month shots today and on the 26th of this month goes for her new legs braces to get her to stand straighter since she walks on her tippy toes. Pretty much nothing else has been going on besides work and coming home to a child who seems to amaze me each and everyday... couldn't be a more happier mother.

I dont know where to begin its almost been a year since i've updated my page, been very busy with school (which is going very well and im almost done graduate june 16) Well Sept 19th after Mileena's first birthday she had hip surgery to try and get them in correct position, she was in a hip spica cast for 6 months. Meaning yes she just got out of them! Which i ended up getting very upset about they did the surgery the first time after trying to change her cast and taking x-rays they noticed her right knee popped out of place again so they decided to do another surgery :-( im not so happy with all this cutting open my babygirl they say its for the best which is all i want for her yet it didnt do much a difference after the 6 months of casting her hips are still dislocated. They now tell me there is nothing more they can do about it and to wait it out, to see if she can deal with it like that..er gets me so frustrated so now pt and ot are back to see if they can build up her leg muscles to see if they can attempt to get her to stand or try to start crawling again. At this point i dont know what to do because as it is for all of us NEW. I break down and hate to see her in so much pain but at the same time dont know if it really is whats best! For now no more surgeries are planned and she will be seeing the ortho in about 3 months before our 3 weeks vacation to puerto rico. Well i have posted new pictures of her hope u like! And to Grant i love the way you get around very intelligent need to hang around mileena and teach her some things. Also, Kai is getting so big love looking at the pictures such a joyful face. Mileena also has been talking so much i guess since she doesnt move around her only advantage is to talk she's picked up on so many words, surprises me alot!

Well sorry i have not updated lately but i started going back to school for medical administrative assistant and i have been a little busy with homework and with trying to get sleep. Ok so where do i begin Mileena's birthday past August 8th finally one years old..she had a blast got alot of pretty clothes. They fed her so much cake that night she threw up pink frosting it was such a good day.

ARMY CRAWL AND NEW HAIR-DO

Hello everyone Mileena's accomplishment this week is crawling... im getting amazed by how smart she has gotten. she's been army crawling everywhere i have a short video of her army crawling to grab pringles. WELL I TRIED TO UPLOAD THE VIDEO BUT IT WONT LET ME FOR SOME REASON SORRY.

Her OT visited her today to measure her for hand splints, got to play with her for awhile without getting fussy (she's actually doing very well with people now) she just chooses women over men. Besides that we have an Ortho Doctor visit tomorrow she goes in for an X-Ray to check and see how her hips are doing..To schedule her hip surgery appointment. Her AFO's are coming along great she's tolerating them very well...nothing else has happened will post again soon but ill leave you off with some awesome pictures of her new hair-do :-)

Well on Tuesday we went to UIC at 730 in the morning to try on her foot braces, doctor had to cut them acouple times but they came out great...and very pretty (butterfly designs). She has to wear them most of the day especially at night when she's sleeping, they dont seem to bother her anyways so everything is going well. Nothing else has happened besides that so will post if anything new happens.

Chocolate!

So we now know that Mileena loves Chocolate (what baby wouldnt huh?) my husband decided to let her have a try at a chocolate doughnut oh my goodness did she have such a great time. She ate the whole thing in about 5 min. I was very impressed! We missed her PT yesterday hoping she will try and stop by tomorrow or firday even though Mileena hates those visits. I dont see why when they really just try and play with her, shes not that comfortable around strangers yet. Other then that we have no new news yet.

Decided to put a picture of her hair up because it excites me more and more to see it get curly. Hopefully as curly as mine.

Here is the only picture i found that shows some curly hair because i usually always have it straight. But its pretty curly people love it but i find it very hard to manage.

Mileena and I would like to thank all the supportive families out there especially her new friend Grant Stone who has DD like she does, he is alittle younger but as cute as can be. We look forward to as many friends as we can get. Again thanks to all who have found us and are now followers, as we are the same!

So today i was going threw my camera trying to make some space for some more pictures of Mileena because she happened to eat a strawberry for the first time...to top that off she ate three, and she took her first bath sitting up with her toys in her little tub, since she was red all over and had a great scent of fresh strawberrys she was all sticky. Well long story short i ended up deleting every single picture on my camera. ERRR i was so mad i had pictures from her bath, from her full of strawberries, from forth of july...etc up till her baby pics. Luckly i have some saved on my computer but that sucked.

Well i ended up taking the first brand new pictures of her for my camera and these were the results!.

Mileena making the "What should we do look"

4th of July Day, we really didint do much that day until 10 o'clock came around. We went to a friends house and watched them blow off some fireworks. Mileena wasnt very fond of the noises so she insisted to be held the rest of the night. This is our first blog as we just got fimiliar with this blogging thing lol. So I will update as much as i can.

My name is Kristal, i am 21 years old and so is My husband Emanuel, we have been together for two years and married for one. We are both from Chicago (Emanuel born in PuertoRico) Mileena is so far our only child but hoping for one or two more in the future, since as you have read were are still alittle young. We are outgoing people love to have fun as much as we can. Majority of the time we spend time with our family and of course Mileena all the time.

Mileena Marie Borges, Born August 8, 2008 at 8:08pm weighing in at 6lbs 8oz..lucky 8's. When i was 24 weeks pregnant the doctors noticed something wrong with the baby's measurements so they decided to send us to an ultrasound specialist. My husband and I woke up extra early that day anxious about what was going to be said! We walked in filled out paper work and the doctor called us in..He looked at the baby's heart first and everything was great...he then began to measure her limbs and is when we noticed a concerned look upon his face. He then began to tell us that her limbs were very short they were at a couple weeks old while the rest of her measurements were where their suppose to be.. He then started insisting that our baby was not healthy and that we should consider abortion. We were puzzled by it all my husband stormed out of the office while the doctor is telling me to tell him to calm down. My mind was going crazy i didnt know what to think or even do about it all. Best thing i did was ask for a second opinion from a different hospital. We went to UIC where the doctors were extremely nice they did multiple ultrasounds and came to a conclusion that we can deliver he normally but they still werent sure what was wrong and that we may lose her hours after birth. So we prepared ourselves for the worst even though we prayed each day for the best. God had sure answered our prayer's she may not be the tallest baby but she is healthy and thats all that matters to us. She was then born and diagnosed with Distrophic Dysplasia.

Mileena was born with her legs out to the side as if she was doing the splits, her knees were backwards so she was hospitalized for a month due to she had some respiratory problems and she wasnt able to eat on her own also she needed surgery to correct her legs.

To this day Mileena has had two surgery's on both her knees, and one surgery on both her feet to correct her clubbed feet. She is due in September for another surgery on her Hips as they are still dislocated. Her feet are still alittle angled down so they have measured her a couple days ago for foot braces which we get to try out next week.

Other then that Mileena has OT visits twice a month and PT visits once a week. Which have been helping her very well they are trying to get her to crawl but she is not very fond of being on her belly other then sleep time. She has been sitting up un supported for quiet some time now since 7months old. She's learned to use those little fingers very good as well, surprised at how many things i find in her hand. Very good at picking up those graduate foods that dissolve. OT is trying to come up with some braces for her hands though to position them alittle better instead of having them lean down so much.
